Nestled in the Worcestershire countryside, The Hop Shed have been brewing beer directly from their family hop farm for over 8 years. With the hops grown, harvested and brewed all on one site, sustainability and quality craftsmanship sit at the heart of the brand.
As the brewery expanded into new beers and seasonal releases, they approached us to evolve the brand identity and create a packaging system that felt bold, modern and flexible enough to grow alongside them. Originally centred around chicken breed-inspired beer names — a nod to their home at The Old Chicken Shed — the existing identity no longer reflected the growing range or the energy behind the brand.
The challenge was to create a standout look and feel that balanced The Hop Shed’s rural roots and brewing heritage with a more contemporary craft beer aesthetic. The brand needed to celebrate their farm-to-glass process, champion British hops and sustainability, whilst allowing each beer to have its own personality and story.

Our answer was a bold retro-inspired collage approach that fused heritage imagery with vibrant modern graphics. Layering black and white photography, close-up textures, cut-out hops and graphic shapes, we created a visually rich and expressive packaging system full of energy and character. Punchy typography was used to hero flavour notes and beer names, helping each label feel loud, distinctive and shelf-ready whilst still sitting cohesively within the wider range.
Every beer was designed to tell its own story — whether inspired by flavour, brewing tradition or The Hop Shed’s countryside surroundings — creating a flexible system that could evolve as the brewery continues to experiment and expand.
To make the range easier to navigate, we also introduced a simple visual hoppiness rating system using illustrated hop icons, allowing customers to quickly understand the flavour intensity of each beer at a glance — much like chilli ratings are used to indicate heat levels. This created an intuitive and accessible way for customers to choose beers based on their personal taste preferences.
Working closely with The Hop Shed and their print partners, we developed a premium print finish using foil detailing and spot UV varnishes to elevate the final bottle labels and give the designs the standout presence they deserved.

Doodlebone approached us with the idea of Nuri, seeking our help to bring the concept and brand personality to life. The result was a fun, colourful and chatty brand that speaks to dog owners and adds character to their range of Vita Bites daily supplement treats for dogs.
