10 digital design trends in 2025
As web designers, we’re constantly adapting to new technologies, aesthetics, and user expectations. In 2025, web design is taking leaps and bounds, blending AI-driven advancements with a renewed appreciation for human creativity, sustainability, and immersive experiences.
Explore the digital trends that are taking over the digital design world, prioritising both functionality and artistry. Current trends are curating websites that are not only visually stunning but also accessible, ethical, and engaging. Here are the top 10 web design trends shaping the digital landscape in 2025.
1. Micro-animations and interactions
Visual stimuli such as micro-animations are a great way to draw attention and add pops of interest to your creative, particularly with the rise of platforms such as TikTok using fast paced, colourful pops of type, colour and icons to attract interest.
2. Sustainable website design
Websites are being designed more sustainably. This not only refers to the ecological aspect of running a website, such as energy usage and reduction of carbon emissions, but also the accessibility of a website, ensuring it is user-friendly and navigable for all users. Opting for timeless components that will give your brand longevity and ensure that your website will serve you for a long time. Read our blog on atomic UI/UX design.
3. Retro style (flash nostalgia)
Nostalgia is a key tool that is playing into design in the ‘roaring 20s’. We are seeing regular allusions to past design principles, retro typography and colours, illustrative styles and website elements. Read our blog on how emotion and nostalgia is being incorporated into modern design and marketing.
4. Bold minimalism
Design is to dare. UI and UX particularly are showing a trend of simplistic but dramatic design, using colour, typography, iconography and imagery as a tool to convey ideas in a striking way that doesn’t overpower the overall brand look and feel.
5. AI-generated media
AI is here to stay, changing the way that creativity can be harnessed and expressed. We can see an increased focus on AI generated content, which can bring ideas to life in a new way, or be used as a jumping off point for exploration. This shouldn’t be relied on solely, and the ethics of AI art should always be considered.
6. A human touch
Brutalism is back. Especially with the focus on minimalism, and raw components over aesthetics, we see the need to show a human element in your design. Using handmade, or hand-drawn elements can add character to your creative.
7. Stand out with vivid colours
Experiment with your colours. Brands are toying with fresh colour palettes, and becoming less 'safe'. Current design is highlighting bolder uses of colour, no longer ‘colour clashing’ we are embracing striking colour palettes that catch the eye.
8. White space
Your content needs to *breathe*. More and more we are seeing website designs that feel elevated, whilst not overwhelming the user experience. White space allows images and videos to pop, creating space to focus on what matters.
9. Motion design
Catch the eye with bold, engaging motion visuals. Use video and animation above the fold to strike attention spans quickly and to clearly resonate your brand look and feel. Read our blog on the value of 3D design.
10. Gamified design
Design is all about play. Not only creating fresh ideas that say what you’ve said before in a new way, but innovative, fun creative that triggers that dopamine hit for your audience. Use gamification to allow your audience to interact with your content and reward their experience.
